Dr. Andrew Hunt recently joined Allied Behavioral Health Services,Incorporated in the practice of psychiatric medicine. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health in 2006. He also has earned a Master of Health Administration from Ohio State. His Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and English Comparative Literature was obtained in 1998 from The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Dr. Hunt is currently completing residency this spring at University Hospitals of Cleveland, and has worked with populations in Community Psychiatry, Veteran’s Administration, Consult-Liason, Inpatient and Outpatient settings.
Dr. Hunt has broad experience in the majority of psychiatric illnesses. He has special interest in mood and anxiety disorders, personality disorders, and dual-diagnosis substance abuse and mental illness. He utilizes a broad range of modalities including medication and psychotherapy. Philosophically, Dr. Hunt believes that optimal treatment must include targeted use of pharmacology along with a broad and flexible range of psychotherapeutic approaches. He makes psychotherapeutic interventions based on clinical evaluation of the most pressing priorities with special focus on patient-doctor relationship. Further, he believes that a patient’s strengths are the most important tools for conquering the symptoms of mental illness, and that psychotherapy must seek to empower patients to improve their own lives.
